Makinde Mobilizes APM Support Across South-West for 2027

Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), is actively working to establish the South-West as a key electoral stronghold for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. On Monday, he convened a meeting with governorship candidates from the APM across the South-West geopolitical zone, including Bimbo Adekanmbi (Oyo), Prince Laja Adeoye (Lagos), and TPL Rotimi Babajide (Ogun State).

The meeting aimed to enhance coordination among candidates, fortify party structures, and devise a unified grassroots strategy. Makinde is targeting the six South-West states—Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo—for intensified grassroots mobilization to build a cohesive political framework that could yield significant electoral success.

He emerged as the APM's presidential candidate after winning the party's primary in Ibadan and has expressed a commitment to restoring hope and implementing reforms in critical sectors like oil and gas and agriculture. Makinde's efforts include engaging political stakeholders beyond the South-West, with endorsements from figures like Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.
