APM Claims Makinde's Popularity Signals 2027 Victory

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has expressed confidence in the potential victory of its Presidential Candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, in the 2027 Presidential election, citing his popularity among young people. A statement from the party's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, highlighted Makinde's connection with youth, stemming from his history of supporting their aspirations.

Yusuf noted that Nigerians can distinguish between genuine commitment and mere election rhetoric, which has led to significant youth support for Makinde. He referenced Makinde's involvement in the 2020 EndSARS protest, where he advocated for the protection of protesters, and his opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government's ban on X (formerly Twitter) in June 2021.

The APM also pointed to the Makinde Reset Nigeria Agenda, which aims to promote transparency and accountability, as a reason for the growing confidence among Nigerians. The party is focused on strengthening its structures nationwide to ensure the protection of votes and mandates.
