Abubakar Malami Challenges EFCC in Court Over Property Forfeiture Order

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in court to overturn an interim forfeiture order on three properties linked to alleged unlawful activities. The properties in question include a plot in Kano, a duplex in Abuja, and a building in Nassarawa.

Malami's legal team, led by Joseph Daudu, argued that the assets were not linked to any specific offense and were declared in Malami's asset declaration forms. The court vacated the interim forfeiture order pending further legal proceedings, citing the need to protect Malami's rights to property ownership and presumption of innocence.

The challenge highlights a legal battle between Malami and the EFCC, with allegations of suppression of facts and misrepresentation by the anti-corruption agency.
