Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso Bid for AFCON 2032 Hosting Rights

Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso are collaborating to submit a joint bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Malian Football Federation announced that officials met with Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Saturday in New York to discuss this initiative.

This meeting is described as a pivotal stage in the bidding process, allowing the three nations to proceed with the necessary steps outlined in CAF regulations for hosting the tournament. The three federations aim to prepare a robust and credible bid that reflects a new vision for African football.

Historically, Burkina Faso hosted the AFCON in 1998, while Mali did so in 2002; Niger has never hosted the tournament. Currently, Mali has five CAF-approved stadiums, and Burkina Faso's main stadium in Ouagadougou received approval in 2025.
