Witness Testifies No Record of China Banks in Mambilla Power MoU in Corruption Trial

In a legal proceeding at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, witness Umar Hussein Babangida Mondai stated that there was no evidence of China's financial agencies or the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) being part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Mambilla Power project. The trial involves former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, facing charges of fraudulently awarding a $6 billion contract for the project.

The witness clarified the lack of Chinese bank involvement in the MoU and detailed the limitations on the federal government's participation in the project. The trial is ongoing with cross-examination continuing.
