Man Arrested for False Helicopter Claims in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command arrested a suspect for spreading false claims about a military helicopter allegedly dropping unknown items in the bush near Nimo, Adazi Nnukwu community, in the Anambra State local government area. The claims circulated rapidly on social media on Thursday, raising concerns and triggering public anxiety regarding a potential security threat.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the police command, described the report as a false alarm capable of causing unnecessary panic and undermining public confidence in the state's security network. Following the viral claims, police deployed a tactical team to verify the situation.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to fabricating the story based on hearsay. The police confirmed that no helicopter had landed in the area, and local residents corroborated this.

The police urged the community to remain vigilant and report genuine security concerns to appropriate authorities.
