Man Arrested for Trading Counterfeit Naira Notes in Nasarawa

Mamuda Hassan was arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for engaging in the trade of counterfeit 1,000 naira notes. The arrest occurred in Lafia after police, led by spokesperson Ramhan Nansel, acted on credible intelligence.

During interrogation, Hassan confessed to supplying counterfeit notes and mentioned having accomplices residing in Mararaba and Akunza. The police are actively working to apprehend these accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro, has advised the public to be vigilant and watch for signs of counterfeit currency, including poor print quality, smaller size, duplicated serial numbers, and the absence of visible security features. Residents are encouraged to report anyone found in possession of or attempting to circulate fake currency to the nearest police station.

Hassan will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
