Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper in Nasarawa State

The Nasarawa State Police Command announced the arrest of a 32-year-old male suspect, Rugan Hassan, in connection with kidnapping activities in the Akwanga Local Government Area. The operation took place on March 20, 2023, at approximately 5:00 PM, following credible intelligence that indicated the suspect was armed and involved in kidnapping.

A police team was swiftly mobilized to the scene, leading to the successful apprehension of Hassan. Upon his arrest, a search was conducted, which resulted in the recovery of an AK-49 rifle and four rounds of live 7.56mm ammunition.

Ramhan Nansel, the police public relations officer, noted that the recovered exhibits were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend other members of the criminal network.

Shetima Jauro, the Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and urged the public to provide credible information to support ongoing operations against crime in the state.
