Atiku Celebrates El-Rufai's Birthday Amid Legal Issues

Atiku Abubakar, in a social media post, celebrated Nasir El-Rufai's 66th birthday, describing him as a "man of courage" and commending his intellect and uncommon sagacity despite current political persecution. Atiku wished El-Rufai strength and peace for the year ahead.

However, El-Rufai is facing serious legal issues, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned him to its headquarters in Abuja. Protests occurred at the EFCC headquarters prior to El-Rufai's arrival.

He is charged with three counts related to wiretapping and breaching the Nigerian Communications Act of 2003, with the case filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja. El-Rufai has accused Nuhu Ribadu of orchestrating an arrest attempt involving the interception of phone conversations.

He is scheduled to appear on Aris TV on February 13, 2026, to address these allegations.
