Man Sentenced to Death for Youth Leader's Murder in Ondo

Adeyemi has been sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of a youth leader in Ondo, as ruled by Justice Yemi Fasanmi. The judgment was delivered after the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, establishing that Adeyemi committed the offense of murder.

The incident occurred on May 1, 2021, in the Oshinl area of Akure, where Adeyemi allegedly led a gang that attacked the victim. During the trial, four witnesses testified, and evidence was presented, including an extra-judicial statement from the defendant.

The victim was reportedly beaten and stabbed in the neck, leading to excessive blood loss and subsequent death. Although Adeyemi denied involvement, his counsel, Fortun Falad, argued that there was no direct evidence linking him to the fatal stab.

However, Justice Fasanmi ruled that the evidence presented, both oral and documentary, showed Adeyemi's deliberate mobilization of armed support to intimidate and attack the victim, which directly led to the victim's death.
