Manchester United Fans Protest Ownership at Old Trafford

On Sunday, prior to the derby match against Manchester City, thousands of Manchester United fans protested against the club's ownership at Old Trafford. The protest was organized by the 1958 Group, with supporters gathering outside the stadium, carrying flares, and marching through the Munich tunnel.

Inside the stadium, The Red Army group displayed a single banner above the players' tunnel reading: “The way you treat us is a disgrace,” refraining from their usual banners. This action highlighted the fans' frustration regarding the current ticketing situation, particularly following Manchester United's announcement of a touting investigation that resulted in 685 fan accounts being banned and 464 others sanctioned or warned.

The Red Army stated that they are not a protest group but an 'atmosphere' group, emphasizing the need for match-going supporters to have a voice. Many fans directed their chants against Sir Jim Ratcliffe, indicating that they hold him accountable alongside the Glazer family for the club's financial issues stemming from their leveraged buyout in 2005.

Ratcliffe was present at Old Trafford for the match.
