NDC Candidate Iliyasu Challenges Mandate Withdrawal Legally

Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate seat in the 2027 general elections, has filed a pre-action notice against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and NDC leadership.

He claims that his mandate was unlawfully withdrawn, which he argues violates the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act 2022. Iliyasu submitted the notices at the INEC and NDC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, emphasizing that this legal action is not confrontational but a demonstration of his faith in the rule of law.

He stated that the mandate was given to him by delegates and party members during the nomination process and expressed his belief that the legal route is necessary to recover it. Iliyasu urged INEC to act impartially and called on NDC leadership to respect internal democratic processes.

He expressed confidence that the legal proceedings would yield justice and advocated for greater political inclusion in Abuja South.
