Nigerian Air Force Airstrike Hits Market in Yobe State

On Saturday evening, an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force struck Jilli Market in the Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, leading to numerous casualties among traders and buyers. Preliminary reports indicate that the military fighter jet was targeting suspected Boko Haram insurgents operating in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported a high number of casualties, with claims suggesting that around 200 people may have been killed, and bodies were found scattered in nearby bushes. Injured victims were transported to medical facilities in Damaturu, part of Borno State, for treatment.

As of the time of this report, the official casualty figures had not been released, and investigations into the incident were ongoing. Jilli is located close to Damasak in Borno State, approximately 200 kilometers from Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
