Kwankwaso Set to Join ADC Without VP Condition

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, is preparing to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after dropping his initial condition for a vice-presidential slot. This decision was disclosed by credible sources within the ADC, indicating that Kwankwaso will make a formal declaration on March 24.

The ADC's national chairman, David Mark, and Rauf Aregbesola will receive him during the ceremony. Alongside Kwankwaso, former deputy governor Aminu Gwarzo is also expected to join the ADC.

The move is part of efforts to strengthen the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Initially, Kwankwaso had sought a vice-presidential ticket as a condition for joining, but he has reportedly agreed to join the ADC without such conditions after discussions with Aregbesola.

The announcement follows a series of meetings, including one with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who played a role in encouraging alliance talks.
