ADC's David Mark Challenges Rival Faction's Claims to INEC

The David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning claims made by a rival faction led by Nafiu Bala Gomb. The Gomb faction allegedly uploaded names of presidential candidates to INEC's nomination portal, which the Mark faction has dismissed as false.

In a statement issued on Monday, ADC's National Public Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the rival group of attempting to mislead the public and create confusion regarding the party's leadership. The ADC maintains that INEC has not granted the rival faction access to the nomination portal and that the commission will not issue two nomination codes to the party.

The Mark faction has called for an investigation into the alleged forgery of documents purportedly issued by INEC, emphasizing the need to uphold public confidence in Nigeria's electoral process. The ADC is focused on its campaign for the 2027 general elections, highlighting its presidential candidates, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
