Supreme Court Restores David Mark's ADC Leadership

On Thursday, the Supreme Court delivered a significant judgment that invalidated the controversial Ibadan convention of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), thereby restoring the leadership structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under David Mark, the former Senate President. The judgment was delivered by Justice Moham Garba and clarified the legal scope of the ADC's leadership amid ongoing disputes.

The court ruled that the trial court had neither granted nor refused an injunction related to the ADC's leadership, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining the status quo until the substantive suit is determined. The ruling was welcomed by ADC officials, including Bolaji Abdullahi and Moham Hayatu-Deen, who called for the resignation of the Independent National Electoral Commission's chairman, citing concerns about electoral integrity.

The Supreme Court's unanimous decision affirmed the legitimacy of Mark's leadership and rejected claims of uncertainty within the party.
