ADC Led by David Mark Sues INEC Over Leadership Removal

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of former Senate President David Mark, has initiated legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The suit aims to restore the names of Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, the party's national chairman and secretary, respectively, which were removed from INEC's official records on April 1.

The motion, filed by lawyer Sulaiman Usman, requests a mandatory injunction directing INEC to immediately restore the names and seeks to set aside INEC's decision to remove the party's leadership from its records. The ADC also seeks an order to restrain INEC from recognizing rival leadership until the case is resolved.

This legal action follows a previous court ruling that directed the party to maintain the status quo amid ongoing leadership disputes, which have created uncertainty within the party's structure. The ADC emphasizes the urgency of resolving this leadership dispute due to its potential impact on the party's political activities.
