ADC Sues INEC to Restore Leadership Names in Abuja

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Senator David Mark, has initiated legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, seeks a court order to compel INEC to reverse its decision to delete the names of key party officials, including Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, from its official portal as of April 1.

The motion was filed on April 7, with the ADC's counsel, Sulaiman Usman, SAN, requesting a mandatory injunction to restore the names and prevent INEC from interfering with the party's leadership records. The dispute stems from a March 12 judgment by the Court of Appeal, which directed the party to maintain its status quo.

The case raises significant issues regarding the leadership structure of the ADC and its implications for the party's political activities, with a hearing scheduled for September 2, 2025.
