INEC Removes David Mark-Led ADC NWC Amid Leadership Crisis

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially removed the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Senate President David Mark, from its portal. This action, announced on Wednesday, is a response to ongoing leadership disputes within the party and follows a directive from the Court of Appeal.

INEC explained that the move is intended to preserve the situation while awaiting a final decision from the Federal High Court in Abuja. The leadership crisis within the ADC has persisted for months, with two factions claiming control, one led by David Mark and the other by Nafiu Bala Gomb.

INEC emphasized the need to comply with the court's order to maintain the status quo until the trial court delivers its final judgment. The commission also rejected a request from the faction loyal to Gomb to recognize him as the acting national chairman of the party, stating that it would contravene the court's directive.
