ADC Leaders Protest INEC Legitimacy, Demand Resignation

On the occasion of his 78th birthday, David Mark, the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), addressed recent protests by party leaders at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja. The protests questioned the legitimacy of INEC and demanded the resignation of its chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan.

Mark stated that there was no cause for alarm regarding the ADC's situation, asserting that the party was handling challenges effectively. The protest, which included prominent figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transport Chibuike Amaechi, was characterized by a strong display of unity among ADC leadership.

They delivered a letter to INEC demanding Amupitan's immediate resignation, citing allegations of gross misconduct and a lack of neutrality in electoral processes. The ADC warned that Amupitan's actions could undermine public trust in the electoral system, raising concerns about the fairness of future elections.
