Akada Children’s Book Festival Returns May 23, 2026

The Akada Children’s Book Festival, Nigeria's first and largest children's book festival, is set to return for its 8th edition on May 23, 2026, at Eko Atlantic, Lagos. The festival is designed to provide an engaging and creative space for children and parents, focusing on the theme of bravery, encouraging young readers to face challenges and believe in themselves.

The festival will feature a full lineup of activities, including author-led book readings, meet-and-greet sessions, storytime, puppet shows, book exhibits, writing and illustration competitions, and various interactive workshops. Additionally, there will be a Scrabble and chess tournament, a theme song competition, and a sip and paint session.

The festival aims to move beyond passive participation, allowing children to actively engage with stories and explore their creativity. Curated selections of Nigerian children's titles will also be showcased, reflecting familiar realities and opening new avenues for imagination.
