Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka Laid to Rest in Katsina
On Friday, thousands of followers gathered in Katsina to mourn the slain Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, chanting “Masussuka is not dead, his virtues are still alive; shame on his enemies.” The emotional atmosphere was marked by cries of “Allahu Akbar” as mourners sought a final glimpse of the cleric. The funeral prayer took place at the Emir of Katsina’s Palace, led by the Imam of Muhammadu Dikko Central Mosque at approximately 2:59 p.m.
The large turnout made it challenging for the ambulance carrying his remains to navigate through the crowd, delaying the procession to Abbatuwa Cemetery for several hours. Imam Rasheed Masussuka, a student and son-in-law of the deceased, led the procession to the cemetery, where Sheikh Masussuka was buried next to his associate, Adam Abubakar Nasarawa.
Security personnel and members of the Yan Agaji volunteer group worked to maintain order during the event, which was attended by various Islamic leaders and officials from neighboring countries.
