Nigeria's Taiwo Mati Confident Ahead of World Table Tennis Champs

Taiwo Mati, a member of Nigeria's men's table tennis team, has expressed confidence in the team's abilities as they prepare for the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships, which will take place in London from April 28 to May 10. The Nigerian team, led by veteran players Quadri Aruna and Olajide Omotayo, along with young talent Matthew Kuti, is set to compete in a challenging group that includes Hong Kong, China, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia.

While Mati is optimistic about Nigeria's chances, he acknowledges the strength of Hong Kong, noting their good track record and previous victories against Nigerian players. He emphasizes the team's motivation and ambition to perform well, despite the individual ranking points at stake.

Nigeria secured qualification for the championship following a dominant performance at the 2025 ITTF Africa Championship in Tunisia, where they achieved a 3-0 victory over Cameroon.
