Nigeria's Table Tennis Teams Start Quest in London Championship

Nigeria's men and women's table tennis teams will commence their quest at the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championship in London on Tuesday. The men's team will face Saudi Arabia at 10:00 AM on Table 10, while the women's team will compete against Wales at 5:00 PM on Table 14.

This tournament marks a significant milestone as it celebrates the centenary of the ITTF World Table Tennis Championship, first held in England in 1926. The men's team is drawn in Group 15 alongside Hong Kong, China, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia, while the women's team is in Group 11, facing Australia and Uzbekistan.

Nigeria's delegation consists of nine players, including experienced players Quadri Aruna and Olajide Omotayo, along with rising talents Matthew Kuti, Taiwo Matti, and Muizz Adegoke for the men, and Fatimo Bello, Ajok Ojomu, Sukurat Aiyelabegan, and Hope Udoaka for the women. Nigeria ranks as the second-best team in their groups behind Hong Kong, China, and Australia.
