Nigerian Girls Detained in Mauritius Released After Diplomacy

The Nigerian girls who were detained in Mauritius since July 31 have been released, as confirmed by the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM). The release followed public concern over a viral video that showed the girls in detention, prompting calls for intervention from the Nigerian government.

NiDCOM announced their release via a statement on its Facebook page, stating that the girls are now on their way back to Nigeria. This development resulted from days of diplomatic engagement between Nigerian authorities and officials in Mauritius.

The girls were confirmed to have been safely released in Nairobi, Kenya, where arrangements were made for their onward journey to Nigeria. Hon.
