Akpabio Celebrates Nigerian Workers on May Day

On International Workers' Day, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the 10th Senate, delivered a congratulatory message to Nigerian workers, acknowledging their resilience and patriotism despite various challenges. He highlighted the crucial roles of workers across different sectors, including teachers, farmers, doctors, and civil servants, in sustaining the nation's heartbeat.

Akpabio assured that the Senate remains committed to legislative measures aimed at improving living wages, ensuring safer workplaces, and implementing pension reforms. He emphasized the need for job creation and the passage of a new national minimum wage act as part of a comprehensive worker welfare package.

Akpabio urged both public and private sector employers to prioritize worker welfare, which he believes is foundational for a productive nation. He also reaffirmed the Senate's partnership with labor organizations like the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress to ensure that the voices of Nigerian workers are heard and respected.
