NLC Urges Kwara Government to Aid Deceased Unionists

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kwara State Council has appealed to the Kwara State government for assistance with the burial and medical expenses of three unionists who tragically died in a road accident. The accident occurred on May 1, 2026, as the deceased were returning from a workers' rally held at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin.

The crash reportedly took place along the Ok Onigbin-Omu Aran highway when a commercial Mazda bus, with registration number ARP627KI, suffered a tire burst, leading to the loss of control and resulting in a devastating accident that claimed the lives of three colleagues. Additionally, six other individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

Comrade Murtala Sahe Olayinka, the NLC chairman, emphasized the need for the government to ensure full medical coverage for those injured in the accident.
