NLC, NUAAE Defend Actions Amid LNRBDA Leadership Crisis

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Agricultural and Allied Employees (NUAAE) have defended their actions in Kwara State amid allegations of inciting violence against the management of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA). Engr.

Olushola Georg Olumoroti, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LNRBDA, accused senior union leaders, including Mr. Mudi Olayinka Raji, of masterminding disturbances to hinder investigations into alleged corrupt practices.

The unions countered these claims, asserting that their protests were peaceful and within their constitutional rights. They criticized Olumoroti's leadership, citing failures to meet promises regarding staff welfare and operational effectiveness since he assumed office in April 2025.

The NLC, represented by Comrade Sahe Olayinka, demanded the immediate payment of outstanding salaries and corrections to erroneous grade level placements for staff. The unions emphasized that their actions are based on documented evidence and due process, rejecting any portrayal of their members as aggressors.
