Thugs Disrupt Ugochinyere's Constituency Briefing in Imo

A constituency briefing held by Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member representing Ideato North/South in the National Assembly, was disrupted by thugs at Christ Anglican Church in Ituek, Imo State. The Action Peoples Party (APP) accused the Imo State government, led by Governor Hope Uzodinma, of deploying masked security personnel to intimidate attendees.

The incident involved harassment and violence against supporters of Ugochinyere, reflecting a troubling trend of attacks against opposition figures since Uzodinma's administration began on January 15, 2020. The APP described the use of live ammunition and tear gas against unarmed constituents as unacceptable and called for widespread condemnation.

They urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state elder council to intervene, while attempts to reach the Imo State Commission for Information were unsuccessful. The party emphasized the need for citizens, both at home and in the diaspora, to condemn such acts that threaten social stability.
