Mayor Cancels DR Congo Friendly Match Over Ebola Concerns

Mayor Juan Franco of La Linea de la Concepcion has canceled a friendly football match between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chile, originally set for June 9, due to health concerns related to an Ebola outbreak in the African nation. The decision was made following recommendations from the Andalusian Region Health Service and the municipality's own medical department, which advised against hosting the match due to the health risks involved.

The Democratic Republic of Congo, currently based in Belgium, is preparing for the World Cup, and the cancellation comes as the nation continues to deal with the Ebola outbreak in the eastern part of the country. The match was intended to be a part of DR Congo's preparations, but the health risks prompted the mayor to sign a decree to prevent the fixture from going ahead.
