Enugu Local Government Chair Supports Governor Mbah's Role

Hon. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, the chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area in Enugu State, addressed concerns regarding the relationship between local governments and the state government.

He clarified that Governor Peter Mbah does not siphon resources from local governments but instead extends a supportive role to foster development. Ukwueze made these remarks during a press interaction at the council headquarters in Ibagwa-Aka on Wednesday.

He emphasized that the local government is not financially deprived by the state governor, stating that Mbah augments resources from various sources. Ukwueze also noted that the local government relationship with the state is transparent and that Enugu State has experienced positive synergy in development projects.

He mentioned that when projects are viable, the state government is willing to invest significantly, with a commitment to meet at least 60% of project costs, leaving 40% to be covered by local governments.
