Enugu's Dr. Peter Mbah Launches Agro-Development Initiative

On September 23, 2026, Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, officially launched the South East Agro-Development Programme (SEADP) at a 200-hectare pilot integrated model farm in Nomeh Unateze, Nkanu East Local Government Area.

The event marked a significant shift from planning to implementation by the South East Development Commission (SEDC). Key attendees included Minister of Regional Development Engr. Abubakar Momoh, SEDC Chairman Dr. Emeka Wogu, and SEDC Managing Director/CEO Mr. Mark Okoye.

Governor Mbah highlighted the project's role in enhancing food production and economic diversification, aligning with the state government's goal of establishing modern farm estates in all 260 wards by 2031. Mr. Okoye explained that the SEADP aims to redefine agricultural practices in the region by integrating land, technology, and markets, with the project's success measured by its broader impact beyond the 200-hectare site.
