SEDC Launches 200-Hectare Farm Project in Enugu

The South East Development Commission (SEDC) has initiated a 200-hectare integrated agricultural project in Nomeh Unataeze, Nkanu East Local Government Area, Enugu State. This project, part of the South East Agro-Development Programme, is projected to generate over 1,000 direct jobs upon full operation.

The facility aims to combine large-scale agricultural production with mechanisation, processing, skills development, and market access. The project includes dairy farming, poultry, fisheries, greenhouse cultivation, fodder production, agro-processing, renewable energy, mechanisation, and practical agricultural training.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah's deputy, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, Minister of Regional Development Engr Abubakar Momoh, SEDC Chairman Dr. Emeka Wogu, and Managing Director/CEO Mr. Mark Okoye.

Ossai emphasized the importance of intergovernmental cooperation for food security and job creation, stating that the project could significantly impact the economic development of Nkanu East and the broader South East region.
