MDCAN Calls for Improved Health Worker Wages Amid Economic Challenges

The Medical Dental Consultants Association Nigeria (MDCAN) is advocating for better wages for health workers, citing the current minimum wage as unsustainable. At their 14th Biennial Delegates Meeting in Enugu, the association highlighted the challenges faced by doctors and health workers due to the country's economic downturn.

MDCAN President Prof Muhammed Mohammed expressed concerns over the mass migration of medical personnel to Western countries, attributing it to low remuneration and infrastructural decay in Nigerian hospitals. The association aims to address these issues through the conference by reviewing progress, assessing challenges, and recommending solutions to prevent further brain drain in the healthcare sector.
