MEDA and Global Affairs Canada Launch Project to Create 8,000 Jobs in Nigerian Agriculture

The Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) has initiated a five-year project in Nigeria, specifically in Bauchi, Kaduna, and Kano states, to create 8,000 jobs and enhance agri-food value chains. The project, supported by Global Affairs Canada, aims to empower women and youth in the agricultural sector.

Diaka Diallo Sall, the MEDA Regional Director for West and Central Africa, highlighted the project's focus on improving resilience to climate and economic shocks, expanding opportunities for smallholder farmers, and promoting gender equality. The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria, represented by Pasqual Salvaggio, emphasized the importance of agriculture in driving economic growth, advancing gender equality, reducing poverty, and empowering women and youth in Nigeria's agri-food system.
