Media and Community Intelligence Enhance Nigeria's Security

At a security summit held in Abuja, experts, including Professor Okei Ikechukwu, discussed the critical role of media and community intelligence in effective security operations in Nigeria. The summit, organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), focused on how modern security outcomes depend on the operational strength of institutions and the public's understanding of security processes.

Ikechukwu delivered a paper titled "Media Expand Reach Effect Governance Security Operations," stressing that when citizens are inadequately informed, it risks losing strategic value in security operations. He noted that contemporary security challenges increasingly involve competing narratives from armed groups that attempt to influence public perception.

Additionally, Shehu Dankolo, representing the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), highlighted substance abuse as a growing factor in criminal behavior and social instability, calling for stronger collaboration among government institutions, media, and communities to enhance awareness and rehabilitation efforts.
