Lai Mohammed Highlights Media's Role in Governance

Lai Mohammed, the former Minister of Information and Culture, made significant remarks on the media's role as a powerful partner in government communication strategies during a book launch in Lagos. He emphasized that effective leadership extends beyond policy formulation and implementation, advocating for sustained engagement with citizens.

Mohammed served nearly eight years under President Muhammadu Buhari's administration and outlined several strategies employed during his tenure, including town hall meetings and media tours to gather feedback from Nigerians. He also addressed the challenges posed by misinformation, particularly surrounding the #EndSARS protests, asserting that there was no massacre at the Lekki toll gate.

Mohammed's book, titled "Documenting the Media Moment," is set to be launched on December 17, 2025, coinciding with the 83rd birthday of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. He encouraged public officials to document their experiences to provide an accurate historical account.
