Lai Mohammed Advocates for Effective Communication in Tourism

Lai Mohammed, the former Minister of Information and Culture, stated that no government can succeed without effective communication. He made this remark on Wednesday during a book donation at the University of Ilorin in Kwara State.

Mohammed discussed the strategic deployment of communication to promote Nigeria's cultural tourism sector, which he identified as a key driver for national development. He explained that the Ministry aimed to leverage communication to place Nigeria's cultural heritage and tourism potential at the forefront of international discourse.

He highlighted the importance of major festivals, such as the Argungu International Fishing Festival and the Osun-Osogbo Festival, as platforms for economic promotion and global storytelling. Mohammed also noted the significance of visiting cultural tourism sites, including Owu Waterfall and the National Museum in Lagos, to showcase Nigeria's tourism potential.

He emphasized the need for a structured national festival calendar to attract tourists and investors, reinforcing the message that Nigeria's true wealth lies in its people and traditions.
