Dr. Odusote Becomes Nigeria's First Female Law School Leader

Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote has been appointed as the Director General of the Nigerian Law School, marking a historic milestone as she becomes the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962.

Her appointment was confirmed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and will take effect on January 10, 2026. Dr.

Odusote will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9, 2026. With a robust background in legal education, Dr.

Odusote currently serves as the Deputy Director General and heads the Lagos campus, a significant hub for legal training in Nigeria. She began her academic journey at Obafemi Awolowo University, obtaining her LL.B and being called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988.

She later earned an LL.M specializing in company and commercial law and a Ph.D. focusing on public law and administrative justice from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. Dr.

Odusote has been a lecturer at the Nigerian Law School since 2001 and has held various significant administrative roles within the institution.
