Navy SEAL Mike Day's Heroic Survival and Legacy

In April 2007, during a raid in Anbar Province, Iraq, Senior Chief Mike Day, a U.S. Navy SEAL, faced a harrowing encounter where he was shot 27 times and hit by a grenade.

Despite sustaining injuries to his leg, arm, abdomen, buttock, and scrotum, which knocked him unconscious, he regained consciousness and managed to eliminate four al-Qaeda militants who attacked him. The incident saw Day hit 16 times on his body, with 11 of those rounds penetrating his body armor, which was equivalent to being struck by a sledgehammer repeatedly.

After the attack, he walked unaided to a medic for evacuation. Day later became a vocal advocate for veteran mental health, competing in endurance events to raise funds for wounded warriors.

He passed away in March 2023, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and advocacy for mental health issues among veterans.
