Kano Governor's Defection Plan to APC Faces Setback as Meeting With Tinubu is Canceled

Kano State Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf's defection plan from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) hit a snag as a scheduled meeting with APC leader Bola Tinubu was abruptly canceled, reportedly due to visa issues and speculations of lack of presidential approval. Yusuf had previously met with his political mentor Rabiu Kwankwaso to address tensions surrounding his defection plan.

Despite the setback, Yusuf continued reaching out to APC leaders, including discussions with Abba Bichi, Nasir Ja'oji, and Abdullahi Abba. There were indications that Yusuf might soon announce his resignation from NNPP and formalize his defection to APC.

The governor's initial plan to register as the first APC member in Kano was put on hold due to his indecisiveness, leading stakeholders to suspend the registration process until Yusuf's final decision.
