Mexican Fans Celebrate World Cup Amid Violence Respite

On Saturday, Mexican fans enjoyed a brief respite from violence as they gathered to admire the FIFA World Cup trophy displayed at Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco. This moment of tranquility came in the wake of violent events in the country, including incidents linked to drug lord Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera, which resulted in numerous deaths and widespread arson.

The trophy's arrival was marked by a strong security presence, including the Mexican army, the National Guard, and Jalisco state police. Rosa Icela Rodríguez, the Interior Minister of Mexico, was present at the event, alongside former soccer player Hugo Sánchez.

Rodríguez expressed gratitude to FIFA and the Jalisco government for their coordination in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during this international event, emphasizing the importance of Mexico's image and the enjoyment of soccer.
