Michael Olise Chooses France Over Nigeria for Football

Michael Olise, a 24-year-old footballer currently with Bayern Munich, has opted to represent France instead of Nigeria, as disclosed by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr. Olise, who has a Nigerian father and a Franco-Algerian mother, was eligible to play for Nigeria, Algeria, France, and England.

Rohr noted that Olise had already made his decision to play for France years ago, specifically mentioning an incident in 2019 when Olise assisted Tunde Adelakun. Rohr attempted to invite Olise to join the Nigerian national team, but he declined, stating that he did not want to join at that time.

Rohr expressed disappointment, indicating that he recognized Olise's potential six or seven years ago and believed he was a strong player, but unfortunately, Olise refused to play for Nigeria.
