Middle Belt Forum Urges Unity for Lasting Peace in Jos

The Middle Belt Peace Forum (MBPF) praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visit to Jos, Plateau State, following recent violent attacks. In a statement signed by the forum's coordinator, Pastor Bulu Garba, they highlighted the importance of a united civil-military effort to restore lasting peace in the region.

The forum condemned the recent attacks as cowardly acts against innocent citizens and emphasized the need for the federal government to protect lives and properties. They acknowledged the sacrifices of the armed forces, led by Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, in maintaining stability across troubled areas.

The MBPF called for greater synergy among security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police, to consolidate military gains and prevent the resurgence of violence. They stressed that sustainable peace requires a coordinated approach between military and police forces to enable displaced communities to return and rebuild their lives.

The forum reiterated its commitment to peacebuilding efforts and encouraged citizen participation in achieving lasting peace.
