Mike Ozekhome Detained by EFCC Facing Forgery Charges

Mike Ozekhome, a senior advocate, is currently in the detention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and is set to face new charges. This development follows the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama striking out three counts of forgery against him, which were initially filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on January 16, 2026.

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), represented by Rotimi Oyedepo, requested to withdraw the charges, indicating the need for further review of the case involving multiple investigative agencies. The charges relate to allegations that Ozekhome received a property at 79 Randall Avenue, London, in August 2021, using falsified documents, including a Nigerian passport in the name of Shani Tali.

The court proceedings are linked to a prior ruling by the UK First Tier Tribunal, which dismissed Ozekhome's claims to the property, citing fraudulent documentation.
