Nigerian Military Rescues 60 Abductees, Arrests 44 Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters announced that troops from the Armed Forces of Nigeria conducted operations between September 18 and September 24, resulting in the rescue of over 60 kidnapped victims and the arrest of 44 suspected terrorists. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, detailed that a Nigerian Air Force jet disrupted a terrorist movement in Kebbi State, leading to the escape of many captives.

Ground troops also rescued victims in Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states, including 17 individuals in Sokoto and seven university students in Katsina. In Borno State, troops intercepted 44 family members of terrorists, including 13 women and 31 children, who had fled from terrorist camps.

Additionally, more than 20 terrorists surrendered due to hardships in their enclaves. The operations also led to the arrest of suspected informants and logistics suppliers, with notable arrests made in Yobe and Borno states, where weapons were recovered.
