AFN Achieves Major Successes Against Terrorism and Kidnapping

Between September 4 and 10, 2026, the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) conducted coordinated operations nationwide, leading to substantial successes against terrorists, kidnappers, and criminal gangs. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that these operations resulted in the surrender of 17 terrorist fighters and their families in Borno State, attributed to harsh living conditions in terrorist camps.

Troops also rescued a female abductee and her child in Gwoza. In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma achieved notable successes in Katsina, Sokoto, Kaduna, and Zamfara states, including the neutralization of a terrorist and the recovery of weapons and medical supplies.

A significant operation in Katsina led to the interception of a truck carrying concealed motorcycles, resulting in the arrest of the driver and 12 suspects. The military's ongoing efforts aim to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in affected communities.
