Nigerian Association Condemns Ban on Sachet Alcohol, Warns of Job Losses

The Food, Beverage, Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) in Nigeria strongly condemns the approval of the ban on alcohol sachets below 200ml by December 2025. FOBTOB President Jimoh Oyibo argues that the ban will lead to job losses and negatively impact the economy, affecting millions of Nigerians.

The association criticizes the lack of consultation and claims that the ban will fuel smuggling and the influx of unregulated alcohol products. They urge the Senate to suspend the ban and engage in public hearings to develop a better national alcohol policy.

The ban is set to be fully enforced by December 2025.
