NECA Commends FG's Suspension of Sachet Alcohol Ban for Economic Protection

The Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA) has commended the Federal Government for halting the enforcement of the proposed ban on 200ml sachet alcohol products. NECA's Director-General, Adewale Oyerinde, emphasized the need for thorough consultations to protect jobs and investments in the alcohol sector, estimated at N800 billion.

The suspension follows concerns raised by the House of Representatives Committee on Food and Drug Administration and Control. NECA highlighted the potential economic impact of the ban on job losses and investment disruption, advocating for evidence-based solutions to address public health concerns while sustaining the industry.
