Umahi Commends Progress on Abakaliki-Afikpo Highway

Minister of Works, David Umahi, praised President Bola Tinubu's administration for the progress made on the Abakaliki-Afikpo-Ndibe Beach Highway, a dual carriageway described as a landmark infrastructure project. This highway is expected to enhance transportation, boost trade, and strengthen the economic integration of the region.

Umahi made these remarks while leading a delegation from the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) during an inspection tour of the highway project in southeastern Nigeria. The project aims to create a strategic road corridor linking Ebonyi and Cross River states to Ndibe Beach and Afikpo, extending to Benue and Kogi states, thereby unlocking significant economic opportunities for communities within Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon.

Umahi expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project, which reflects the government's commitment to delivering durable, long-lasting infrastructure. Mainouna Sidib from EBID commended the scale of infrastructure development in Nigeria and expressed the bank's readiness to support initiatives promoting regional economic growth.
